General Qualifications for Camp Millhouse Staff

Camp Millhouse has many staff positions available. Most of our staff is residential, which means you live on the campsite from Sun. afternoon through Saturday morning. There are a few positions that do not require you to live on site. There are also a fee weeks that end on Friday morning. Please read the information below, we look forward to hearing from you!

Must be at interested in working with children and adults with special needs ranging from those who need minimal assistance to those who need total care. You should enjoy the outdoors and all that camp has to offer. You must be at least 16 years of age for paid positions, and in good physical and emotional health, able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.

Qualified staff needs to be self-motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, hard working. Creative, caring and compassionate. Good communication skills and organizational skills are a plus. You need to be able to work with others in a team environment, be able to supervise and accept supervision is a must. Previous experience is not a necessity but a plus. Staff training is provided.

Program Staff (5 positions)

These positions consist of: the Arts & Crafts Director, Recreation Director, Nature Director, Pool Staff (WSI, Lifeguard).

  • You must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Plan and implement program activities appropriate to the campers skill levels each week.
  • Organize and clean activity areas.
  • Assist in cabins and at meal times.
  • Work with other program staff to plan and implement evening programs for small and large group activities.
  • Be a role model for campers and staff.
  • General Staff qualifications apply.

Cabin Counselors (8 positions)

This position ideally would be 4 male counselors and 4 female counselors.

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Provide and maintain an organized and clean cabin for a maximum of 14 campers per week.
  • Coordinate and supervise assistance counselors and C.I.T.s program staff assigned to your cabin.
  • Supervise, coordinate and assist staff with the camper care including over all hygiene ranging from campers who need verbal prompting to those who are totally dependent on us for their care (showering, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring), dietary needs.
  • Organize and coordinate a staff schedule of time off, cabin sitting and job duties within the cabin.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Good communication skills to work with staff, parents and supervisors.
  • Assist and participate with campers in all activities areas.
  • Two Counselors per cabin, share a private room with in the cabin with the campers.
  • General Camp Staff Qualifications apply.

Assistant Counselors (10 - 12 positions)

You must be at least 16 years of age. This is also an overnight position, however you do not share your living quarters with the campers. You live in a cabin assistant staff and program staff. Cabins are not co-ed.

  • Good physical and emotional health.
  • Assist in cabins with general duties (cleaning and organization of the cabin).
  • Assist campers with care ranging from those who need verbal reminders to those who rely on us to provide their care (showering, dressing, diapering, toileting, lifting, transferring, eating).
  • Assist and participate in activities through out the day and evening.
  • Work with others in the cabin to coordinate time off, cabin sitting and chores.
  • Good communication skills with cabin staff and supervisors. Dinning Room Staff (4) General Camp Staff Qualifications apply. There are 2 shifts; a morning and afternoon, there will be 2 assistances for each shift.

 Kitchen Staff (4 positions)

  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Good physical and emotional health.
  • Able to lift a min. of 50Lbs.
  • Set up dinning room daily for meals.
  • Assist in Kitchen staff as needed with meal prep.
  • Serve meals (family style).
  • Clean dinning room after meals, including: clearing dishes, wiping off tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping the kitchen and dinning room floors, taking out the trash and washing dishes.
  • Breakdown and throw away boxes.
  • Assist with putting inventory away.
